Questions for a succesfully freelancing at home

Thu Jul 30, 2009, 5:02 PM
I've been swamped with many freelance projects and I don't want to disappoint my clients in any way. What do you recommend I do to streamline my work flow and creativity? I'm curious to know if you are a professional illustrator or pay the bills with your art in any way, how is your daily life? Do you wake up early? are you a night owl? How do you deal with siblings (if any)? How important is family support? Do you time your work and finish at a predetermined time or do you scatter your freelance throughout the day? How deeply do you concentrate in your freelance and how do you protect that from distraction. Do you have a studio separate from your household?
I've been freelancing many years, but it seems to be getting busier lately. I would appreciate ANY tips. Thank you

Well... I cannot be happy enough to be supporting my self with my art for the past 2 years. Freelance and Caricature gigs have paid me enough to have an average income and I am happy about that for now. Obviously I want to grow a lot more but it all comes with Patience. For people to be paying me for what I love is really unexpected and awesome!!

Hey man! Just wanted to thank you for the fave! I'm loving your speed painting practices. I hate you for being so studious since it reminds me that I need to keep practicing!!! =)
:iconheckthor:
THnks! You have masted digital painting and sometimes I go to your DA to study how the hell you don't use visible black outlines :)
:iconkay-too:
Haha not quite mastered...but I'm improving. That was an amazingly large compliment you just paid me and I thank you for that. I've actually been studying some of your work (like your hobo and frankenstein pictures). I love your stylized comic book look. You have an amazing grasp on composition and anatomy that I wish I had haha. I'm just a half-decent painter...if you ever see my pencils, they're horrendous =)
:iconnoahw:
Absolutely love your stuff dude, there's an awesome feel to your style that I totally envy.

"Am I mad because I'm an artist, or am I an artist because I'm mad?"
:iconheckthor:
ah man, you don't even know how many artist I envy myself... and your art's intricacy and coolness is definitely something to envy.
:iconnoahw:
Thanks much dude, art's weird like that,
when two different artists with completely different styles
look at each other's work it baffles them because its something they don't do.
Like a magic trick they don't know so it still amazes them.

Que tal Hector! Eres Méxicano o de familiares mexicanos? porque de ser así que curioso que los dos ganaramos la app en el ChiuStream (curiosamente de la misma edad), tienes un trabajo muy bueno, ya te agregué a la watch list.

Saludos!
